Pretty Darn Quick (PDQ) Evidence is a new database that provides quick access to high quality health system and public health evidence. It includes systematic reviews and overviews of systematic reviews; primary studies included in those; and structured summaries. The connections between the documents make PDQ-Evidence very easy and quick to search.

Two new consumer web sites featuring Cochrane evidence launched

The IN-DEEP project is an Australian-Italian partnership between researchers, multiple sclerosis (MS) societies, and consumers in both countries, to facilitate knowledge translation for consumers. The Australian and Italian teams have each created a web site for people with MS and their family members that presents the evidence about a selection of MS treatments. We use Cochrane Reviews with added explanations and prompts to make the evidence meaningful and personally applicable.

Call for applications: Complementary Medicine Field Bursary Scheme 2012

The Cochrane Collaboration Complementary Medicine Field is pleased to announce our 2012 bursary scheme made possible through funds from the US National Institutes of Health, National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Child Health Field seeks commentary authors for Evidence-Based Child Health

The Cochrane Child Health Field publishes a bimonthly journal, Evidence-Based Child Health: A Cochrane Review Journal. In each issue, we reprint several Cochrane reviews, selected from all areas of child health. For each review, we commission one or two short commentaries highlighting the relevance of the findings for child health practice and/or policy. The commentaries are about 500 words long. They are written by people with expertise in the area covered by the review, and experience in preparing systematic reviews and interpreting their findings.

Dr Richard Smith was the editor of the BMJ until 2004 and is director of the United Health Group’s chronic disease initiative. Invitation to participate in a survey on experiences of review authors using PRISMA-E 2012

Systematic review authors are invited to participate in a brief survey to capture review author experiences in using the new equity extension to the PRISMA statement (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses). The existing PRISMA Statement, developed in 2009, aims to improve reporting of systematic reviews and meta-analyses by promoting completeness and transparency of reporting of the methods used and subsequent results.
